Founded in the late spring of 1888, Castrén & Snellman is a forerunner of demanding legal services. Decades of supporting our clients’ success have enabled us to grow into a firm of over 250 people. We have offices in Helsinki, Moscow and St Petersburg. Our turnover in 2016 was EUR 43.9 million.

We believe that in this rapidly changing world, those companies who build their business on a sustainable foundation will be the most successful ones. That’s why we proactively take into account responsible business conduct in the value chain of our clients.

The best results come when companies not only hunt for short term results, but keep their eyes on the future. Wise business leaders today take into account all three aspects of sustainability: people, planet and profit.

Through our advice, we can significantly steer our clients’ operations towards increased accountability. But that’s not enough for us. We want to act responsibly ourselves, too.

Our work at Castrén & Snellman is guided by the corporate responsibility principles and practices based on the international ISO 26000 standard.

Our Helsinki office is the first law firm in Finland to meet the requirements of the WWF’s Green Office environmental programme. In our daily work, we seek to minimise our effect on the environment by monitoring consumption of paper and electricity as well as impacts of travelling.

We participate actively in many networks that promote responsibility, such as the Climate Leadership Councel (CLC), the FIBS Corporate Responsibility Network, a leading non-profit corporate responsibility network in Finland, and Finsif, Finland’s Sustainable Investment Forum. We also participate in the development of legislation, market practices and investment instruments aimed at preventing climate change.
