In August Climate Leadership Coalition (CLC) accepted three new individual members: Pekka Haavisto, Mari Pantsar and Pekka Morén. These individuals further strengthen CLC’s position as the largest non-profit climate business network in Europe by membership.
The CLC Board has accepted three new personal members: Pekka Haavisto, a member of the Finnish Parliament and former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Minister for International Development and Minister of the Environment in Finland; Mari Pantsar, Partner, Kari&Pantsar Co, and former Director of the Finnish Cleantech Cluster and the Finnish Government’s Cleantech Programme, and former Director of Sitra’s Sustainability Solutions theme; Pekka Morén, Senior Ministerial Adviser and Special Representative of the Finance Minister, Climate Action at Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action. They take the number of personal members of CLC to 65.
“Mr. Haavisto, Ms. Pantsar and Mr. Morén join CLC ahead of considerable international turning points for climate change mitigation and environmental protection. The coming COP-meeting will start the global stocktake process to enable countries and other stakeholders to see where they’re collectively making progress toward meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement, and we know, they are not. Environmental protection and biodiversity strategies are making their way into business agendas and will also be a part of CLC’s strategy from this year onward. The expertise and high-level international networks of Mr Haavisto, Ms Pantsar and Mr Morén will strengthen CLC during the coming eventful years. We are looking forward to working together with Mr Haavisto, Ms Pantsar and Mr Morén as individual members of CLC”, says CLC CEO Tuuli Kaskinen.
CLC members employ 1,000,000 people globally and represent over 70 per cent of the market cap of the OMX Nasdaq Helsinki stock exchange. CLC’s members believe that transitioning society towards a sustainable economy and consumption is not only possible but also economically viable.
