Climate Leadership Coalition (CLC), which develops business-driven solutions to address climate change, has accepted the insurance company LocalTapiola Group as a new organizational member.
LocalTapiola Group’s membership brings the number of CLC organisational members to 95 and further strengthen CLC’s position as the largest non-profit climate business network in Europe by membership.
“In the sustainability efforts that we implement, we in LocalTapiola want to go beyond the minimum level set by regulation, seeking to become a pioneer in impactful sustainability in our sector. The impact element of our sustainability efforts is strongly linked to the business we do: we craft new responsible insurance products and services and cement our position in leading the way in responsible investment. Apart from the goals rooted in our core business, we seek solutions for mitigating climate change by acting as a strong partner in the green transition and by aiming at net zero CO2 emissions from our investment portfolios and underwriting portfolio by 2050”, says Juha Koponen, CEO and Chairman, LocalTapiola Group.
Karl-Henrik Sundström, chairman of CLC’s Board, warmly welcomes the new member to CLC.
“Our growing membership base and network of partners enhance CLC’s potential to support Finnish, Nordic, EU and global decision-makers in work to mitigate climate change and implementing the European Green Deal. We are looking forward to working together in climate change mitigation with LocalTapiola Group, the industry leader joining our network.”, says Karl-Henrik Sundström.
CLC members employ globally 540,000 people and represent almost 70 percent of the market cap of the OMX Nasdaq Helsinki stock exchange. CLC’s members believe that society’s transition towards a sustainable economy and consumption is not only possible but also economically viable.
