Juha Turkki has been appointed as the Development Director of Systemic climate solutions for CLC.

Turkki has almost 20 years of experience in climate policy issues. He has been working as a senior adviser in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Employment in Finland being one of the secretaries of the Ministerial Working Group of Energy and Climate Policy. As a secretary he was involved in drafting the Finnish Energy and Climate Strategies published in 2005 and 2008. He has also an in-depth understanding of EU ETS after being involved in national implementation of the Emission trading directive in the 1st and 2nd trading periods. After moving to the private sector in 2008 he has been working as a consultant on power market and energy and climate policy-related issues. In his latest position, he has been a director in SKM Market Predictor. Turkki has a master’s degree in forest economics.

As a development Director, Turkki will be responsible for the development of systemic solutions for the mitigation of climate change with CLC members and partners. The work will include the development of climate policies and market mechanisms to be more predictable, cost-efficient and to enable adequate level investments for climate solutions.

“CLC has called for a more ambitious and predictable EU-wide systemic solution for achieving climate goals and this is now our core project. Our work is aimed to create value for the European Green Deal in its planning and implementation phases and support the wider international initiatives as Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition, a strategic partner for CLC. Juha has excellent competence in this area and I warmly welcome Juha onboard” says Jouni Keronen, CEO of CLC.

Turkki will start at CLC on 1.3.2020.
